Brown & age spots

Age spots ("liver spots") and brown spots are facial pigmentation caused by abnormal concentrations of melanin. The production of melanin is triggered by exposure to the sun.

Age spots and brown spots as blemishes of varying intensity, and are associated with genetic predisposition and overexposure to the sun's damaging ultraviolet rays - and not necessarily age. They come in different sizes and usually appear on the face, hands and arms.

In the majority of cases, age and brown spots pose no threat - however, they are unsightly and may cause a person to look year older along with other visible signs of sun damage.
