The saying "sow before harverst" is well known. If we reflect on this for just one second and think about this proverb, how many of us really achieve harvest after planting seeds for many years? Indeed, sowing is not an easy pathway to walk until harverst. However, one incredible man is able to make this proverb come true. He is Mr Chan Soo Teck, the founder of Chan Furniture (M) Sdn Bhd which is now has 48 branches selling furniture and electrical products in Malaysia.
What do we know about Mr Chan who did not completed his high school but could today is a successful and well known businessman?He was a rottan carpenter who had started making rottan furniture in Petagas in year 1986. It was a small factory with less than ten (10) working colleagues which includes his brothers Chan Yen Soon, Alan Chan and Mr Chai Soon Fatt who is his hometown neighbour, also our general manager today that had assisted Mr Chan since they were in Petagas. They worked from initial process up to delivery to end user. His small factory could made 20 to 30 sets of rottan sofa to sustain the local markets' demand including wholeselling. The desire to expand the business had encouraged Mr Chan to open the first showroom at Karamunsing complex in 1987.
